This will make your life so much easier in the operating room. Especially, if you’re a medical student, and everyone’s running around doing something so you’re not just standing there like waiting for someone to glove you.

Once you walk into the OR and you’re scrubbed. Someone’s gonna gown you or you can gown yourself. That part’s not hard, and then you’ll go over to the sterile scrubs, like table and your gloves will be sort of like below process.
Open it up, it’s just like a book, and then there’s another flap that you have to open, and the important part here is that you keep your hands inside your cuff at all times.

As all the items sterile, you do not want to have any exposed fingers or skin outside of the cuff which is why this is a little bit challenging. Essentially we are going to take the glove.Grab the edge of the glove, and then you grab the outside edge of the glove with your other hand, so now you’ve got a good grip on both edges, on one side and the other, and then you’ve gonna flip this around your fingers here and put the glove on. Now it’s sort of cuffed around my hand, and since your thumbs were lined up, you can now just pull it down.

For the second glove, you would just put your fingers in under the cuff here and then you can since this hand is gloved, you can bring these fingers out, make sure they’re not touching anything, then glove this hand.

Yes, I said not to let your fingers become exposed, but for this part since we’re only touching the inside of the glove that’s sterile, it’s okay, and then you pull them through and then stand like below picture.

I would say to try to practice self gloving even if someone there to glove you, because that will save you a lot of time in the operating room when you’re the last one to get gloved and the scrub nurse is, you know busy trying to help your attending or your senior set the table up.
